Mouse works in menus, but not in-game.

At the main menu, go to Options -> Control Options.

Select Default -> Yes.

Go back to the main menu and exit "Far Cry."

Restart "Far Cry."

At this point, you can recustomize your controls if you wish and the mouse will work in-game.

Game is "washed out."

This isn't a Vista-specific issue, but comes up often enough that I'm including the solution here. To correct this issue (where the entire game is really bright), download and install the v1.4 patch (linked below).
