BioShock

Modified: Tuesday, 03 March 2009 03:59 PM by RomSteady - Categorized as: Game, Works with Vista 32-bit, Works with Vista 64-bit
Confirmed to work under both 32-bit and 64-bit variants of Windows.

Note: Sometimes when you exit BioShock, you may have your desktop frozen in non-Aero mode and while you are able to move your mouse pointer, your system will not react to any mouse clicks.

If this happens, press Ctrl-Alt-Delete and pick Task Manager. If a window isn't up saying that "bioshock.exe has stopped responding," end task on BioShock and all will return to normal.

Edit

Steam Version Loses Audio

The Steam version of BioShock has issues running as a standard user on Windows Vista. Specifically, you may lose in-game audio. Cutscene sound works find, but the game audio doesn't work.

If you encounter this issue:

1) Exit Steam completely.

2) Go into (Steam folder) \steamapps\common\bioshock\Builds\Release

3) Right-click on the executable and put BioShock in Windows XP SP2 compatibility mode.

4) Double-click on BioShock.exe to launch the game.

5) Log into Steam when prompted.

6) When warned about administrator mode, hit "Launch anyway."

Results: Full sound, but Steam is now running in WoW 32-bit XP compatibility mode and will have to be restarted.
